API, Nalbari Branch officially came into being out of preconceived ideas, wishes and deliberations of Physicians of Nalbari, Rangia, Pathsala and Barpetaroad on a chilly night of December 2016 at United Hospital, Nalbari. The branch was formally inaugurated by State API President Dr Atul Saikia, the founder President being Dr Nirmalendu Bhagabati and Secretary Dr Bharat Baishya. Nalbari Branch is one of the several branches of API, Assam Chapter.
The Association of Physicians of India is a professional body of Consultant Physicians formed in 1944 at then Madras. Since then it has grown in size and stature and now its membership is more than 18000 and is increasing day by day.
The Association conducts various professional activities for its members throughout the year. The main aims and objectives are to provide a common platform for the Physicians of India to meet and share experiences and research observations and findings in the field of Medicine, to propagate and expand knowledge and to translate this knowledge in patient care for the benefit of both the Physicians and the society at large. The API, Nalbari is regularly conducting CMEs inviting Specialties of various branches of Medicine to keep the Physicians updated in the ever expanding field of Medicine. Moreover the Association aims to foster brotherhood and bonhomie among the Physicians and to lead them to professional excellence.
