Five girls make up the ADOR girl group NewJeans . They debuted on August 1st, 2022, with the EP New Jeans.

As on July 1, 2019, Min Hee Jin will serve as HYBE's new Chief Brand Officer, and one of her responsibilities will be to oversee a female group initiative involving Big Hit and Musique source.

The Plus Global Auditions were announced on September 4, 2019. 16 cities hosted auditions, which continued until the end of October. By the end of 2019, casting was finished, and early 2020 saw the start of training.

The group of girls' leadership was transferred to the ADOR in September 2021.

The official announcement of the launch of a new independent label under the agency, ADOR, came from HYBE on November 21st, 2021. The label plans to debut a new female group in 2022, with production duties primarily falling on Min Hee Jin, the company's PDG. The group will primarily be made up of participants in HYBE's Plus Global Audition in 2019.

On March 3, 2022, Min Hee Jin revealed that the beginnings of the female group would take place specifically in the third quarter of the year.

The first teaser videos were released on July 1 and it was also announced that the group would release its first content on July 22.

The group released the first video clip for the song "Attention" on July 22 along with the first release date for their debut EP, New Jeans, which will be available digitally on August 1 and physically on August 8. The same day, teaser photographs were released.

On August 3, Minji was formally named the group's leader.
