How did Radio Ideal come about? It was during the pandemic.
Before that, we already played music at home, playing around with radio. It was a homemade radio station called Radio Flash. We played music at home, and the neighborhood listened.
Some neighbors asked us to record the music on pen drives, and so we did. One of them suggested: “Why don’t you set up a real radio station? That way we could listen in our homes.”
I kept thinking about it.
So I looked for an empty frequency on the dial and tuned to 98.1, because I remembered the defunct Radio 98. I went around the city with that frequency, from north to south, from east to west, and the frequency was indeed empty.
Lying in my bed, I looked at a box that said “Ideal for preparing food”; it was a box for an electric pressure cooker. I looked at my daughter and asked:
— What do you think of the name “Ideal” for the radio station?
And she replied:
— It’s a cool name, it’s nice.
I sought out the appropriate authorities to register the radio station, but I was unsuccessful. So, on April Fool's Day, April 1st, 2020, we inaugurated the radio station.
We abandoned the name Rádio Flash and started using Rádio Ideal 98.1 FM.
Reminding everyone that we are a community radio station, and now also a web radio station. May GOD bless us.
AMEN.
