To be reminded of an event in advance, you can create notifications for your Google Calendar events, which will also trigger an alarm as a reminder.

Each notification triggers an alarm clock that only stops when you snooze it or turn it off. It reliably serves as a reminder if you need more than a small notification before one of your Events or Appointments starts.
