Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal was established in the year 1995in memory of the first Bishop of the diocese of Pala, Mar Sebastian Vayalil, who strived to make education more accessible throughout his life. It is a minority institution belonging to the Roman Catholic Syrian Christian Community and is under the patronage of the diocese of Pala with the Bishop of Palai as its Patron. The college is situated in Cherpunkal in the Meenachil Taluk of Pala.
