Basically, BI checking is another name for Individual Debtor Information (IDI) or a person's credit history or loan history to a bank or non-banking financial institution. All credit history of a customer, good or bad, will be recorded in the Debtor Information System (SID). Reports from this data can be accessed by financial institutions around the world to find out the credibility of a customer.

But starting from January 2018, BI checking or Debtor Information System (SID) services have changed their name to Financial Information Service System (SLIK). SLIK is managed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and provides Debtor Information (iDeb) for individual Debtors and business Debtors similar to BI checking.

It is this credit record that will determine whether a loan application from a customer will be approved or not. If a customer's credit record is bad, he will have difficulty applying for loans to financial institutions and, both banks and non-banks. Therefore, it is very important for every customer to keep their credit records clean.
