You feel tense and irritable, overcome. You fall asleep with difficulty and you go from euphoria to fear for no apparent reason: you are stressed.
It is usually the invisible enemy, the beast that we carry inside and that, when it attacks, we blame work, worries, crisis and other traumatic circumstances.
Anxiety, one of its manifestations, is the most common minor mental disorder: between 15% and 20% of the population, women in a proportion of two thirds, will suffer it at some point in their life, according to the OMS.
On many occasions, we are faced with situations in which stress becomes our faithful traveling companion. It can be motivated by a number of causes: overwork, family problems, or, currently, unemployment or economic problems. In fact, in times of economic instability like the current one, medical consultations related to stress are increasing. And it is that there are people who have a bad time and reflect it with episodes of anxiety or stress.
But what lies behind stress? It is the physiological, psychological and behavioral response of an individual who tries to adapt and adjust to internal and external pressures. And this has its consequences for our health, since a drop in defenses caused by stress manifests itself in various health problems such as extreme tiredness or exhaustion, colds and flu, headaches, skin conditions - there are hives that appear in episodes of stress - and muscle tension.
