Moonwood is wood that was felled at a time when the moon was in a certain position relative to the earth. Ancient rules say that the wood then has better properties, for example it is harder and more resistant, shrinks less or “warps” less.
This assumes that the wood is then professionally dried, stored and processed.
The points in time that influence the material properties of wood have been observed by craftsmen, foresters and scientists for centuries. The favorable times were recorded in the Moonwood rules.
Although scientists have not yet found a clear explanation for this, many people are convinced of the quality of moonwood.
