PRO-Training is a science-based application focused primarily on people aged 50 and older who want to improve their physical condition and well-being.
Exercising is always important at any age, but in adults and older people it is essential to avoid the loss of muscle and bone mass produced as a consequence of aging. There is a multitude of scientific evidence that shows that increasing physical fitness improves health and reduces the risk of suffering from a series of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, different types of cancer, etc. Likewise, exercising results in the energy and vitality of the practitioner, which in turn improves the quality of life. Unfortunately, despite this knowledge, a large proportion of the world's population remains physically inactive and highly sedentary.
Frequently, the practice of physical exercise is conditioned by issues such as time, physical or economic limitations, the low availability of sports facilities in depopulated rural areas or by the simple fact of not wanting to do physical exercise with other people. Therefore, training carried out through a mobile application can be an alternative to increase the accessibility of all these people to physical exercise as long as the program is designed for the target population.
With the PRO-Training app, just with your body weight and a kit of elastic bands of different resistance levels you can get in shape at home, so there are no more excuses!
PRO-Training has been developed thanks to the collaboration of the GENUD Toledo research group (Department of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences). Its development has been carried out with the participation of a multidisciplinary scientific and technical team made up of physical-sports educators, psychologists and doctors.

What differentiates PRO-Training from other apps?
The application is designed to offer you a plan of 3 weekly training sessions (1 hour/session) with different levels of difficulty (basic, intermediate and advanced) as you progress over time. Each session contains a complete multicomponent training program, including mobility, balance, muscle strength, cardio and flexibility exercises, which has been previously validated in scientific research studies by participants between the ages of 60 and 75.
In addition, it includes motivational strategies in order to increase your feeling of autonomy, competence and enjoyment while training. Thus, you will learn new healthy habits, you will receive motivational messages and you will enjoy exercising, making sure to be consistent in your routine and not give up halfway.
