Locus of Control

Locus of control means whether people believe that they are in control of events or events control them. The people with skills who rely on their ability are said to have internal locus of control and those who are controlled by chances or outside forces are said to be externally controlled or have external locus of control. Those who have internal locus of control believe that they control and shape the course of events in their lives.
Those who have external locus of control tend to believe that events occur purely by
chance or because of factors beyond their control. People having internal locus of control
seek opportunities for advancement and rely more on their abilities and judgment at work,
and people who are externally controlled remain mostly inactive and allow the events to
happen on their own.
