Atmospheric Entry, also known as re-entry or atmospheric interface, was when a spacecraft made an entry into a planet or moon's atmosphere from space.

At high speeds this could compress the air in front of the craft, producing high temperatures that could be lethal to an inadequately-shielded vessel.

Atmospheric Entry is a barrier, a filter, that prevents typical cometary meteors from surviving atmosphere in rock-size objects, and large cometary meteors disintegrate into dust at high altitudes.
