This MoTAR mobile app is part of the monitoring project Information System. Participants of the project use the app to collect data in various geographic locations around Uganda, Africa. Data is collected using the GPS and a standardized form and then uploaded to a central cloud server for processing and alerts.
The MoTAR project performs monitoring of ticks and acaricide resistance in Uganda. Tick-borne diseases are a danger to people and livestock. In Uganda, calf mortality rates can reach up to 30 percent before the animals reach six months of age, and deaths of exotic breeds can reach up to 100 percent.
