The pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 infection has caused, in addition to the acute symptoms known to all, the appearance of various diffuse and heterogeneous persistent symptoms in a disease called Persistent COVID. The treatment of these patients is complex and there are still many gaps in their care.

The most common symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath or cognitive problems and impact daily functioning. Symptoms may be new-onset, appear after initial recovery from an acute episode of COVID-19, or persist after initial illness, may fluctuate over time, and are not related to the degree of severity of the acute illness.

Similarly, by analogy with other pathologies, it has been hypothesized that an optimal exercise prescription would benefit these people with persistent physical symptoms of COVID-19. A rehabilitation plan will be drawn up based on the individual characteristics of the patient, adapting to their needs. In addition, the progression of the tasks will be modified depending on the symptoms during and after the exercise.

The prevalence of cognitive symptoms is approximately 20% among persistent COVID patients. Various cognitive rehabilitation programs have benefited from incorporating the methodology of the so-called "serious games". Serious games are games that do not have entertainment or fun as their primary goal, but are designed to train or change behavior while entertaining players. Following the theoretical framework of "serious games", our team has designed an online training program for patients with persistent COVID (COPERIA-COG) adapted for mobile devices (Smartphone, Tablet), which facilitates its accessibility to large population groups.

The objective of the COPERIA project is, among other things, to identify differences in the physical and cognitive capacities of patients treated with COPERIA compared to patients with the usual treatment. To do this, both groups will be evaluated through clinical tests in the hospital before and after the active group performs online interventions with this solution.

This application has been developed by Bahía Software in collaboration with the Fundación Biomédica Galicia Sur, Imaxin Software and 10Mets within the framework of the COPERIA project, a project headed by Dr. García-Caballero and the persistent COVID unit of the Ourense University Hospital Complex .
