TLDL is an app designed to help people get more information than just an audio recording. TLDL allows users to create long videos that contain all the important information you want without using up too much of your device’s storage or battery. TLDL isn’t a replacement for conventional video but shines while recording long slow-paced events where you would like visual information as well as audio to help you study or remember critical details.
What does a TLDL video look like?
Imagine you started to record with TLDL. After 15 seconds you decide to take a picture of a whiteboard. After another 5 seconds you decide to stop TLDL. TLDL would generate a video where the screen is black for the first 15 seconds and the audio you recorded is being played in the background. Then, after 15 seconds the whiteboard will be shown with the audio still being played in the background until the video stops at 20 seconds. Of course you can record much longer than this though. This is just an example.
Why would you want videos like this?
TLDL uses the fraction of the battery and storage conventional videos use. For instance a 2 hour recording with TLDL at 1080p would be roughly 200 MB which is tiny compared to the 85 GB which would be required for a 1080p 30 fps conventional video equivalent. This is really handy for recording slow paced events where you want to capture both audio and visual information.
What format are TLDL videos? Can they be easily played elsewhere?
Yes TLDL videos use the .mp4 container format and can be easily be played elsewhere.
How do I remove ads and the watermark on the video?
TLDL Pro is ad free and has no watermark. You can check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beau_software_ltd.tldl_pro
What scenarios could this be useful in?
Maybe you want record a lecture, meeting or just want more context behind the photos you take with family. TLDL helps you get more out of your audio recordings and photos.
What does TLDL stand for?
TLDL stands for Too Long Didn't Listen. It is similar to the more common abbreviation TLDR which means Too Long Didn't Read.
Planned Future Features
In the future I plan to implement the ability to add text notes to the videos generated and allow users to draw on the images to be added to the video. If you want to see these implemented please consider sharing and supporting TLDL. Everything helps! :)
