⚫ How many police stations are there in Bihar?
Currently, the state has 1,094 police stations. Once the outposts are upgraded, the number will rise to 1,300 across the state. The number of police outposts in Bihar is 239. "Earlier, police headquarters was in favour of upgrading 150 outposts.

Once an FIR is lodged, four copies are made. While the original is dispatched immediately to the magistrate having jurisdiction, one copy is retained by the police station and one copy is sent to the Superintendent of Police and another to the immediate superior officer, usually the Circle Inspector.

There is no time limit on how long a police force will take to deal with your complaint. However, once the complaint is assigned to someone, they should tell you how long it is likely to take. If they decide not to record your complaint, they should explain the reasons why.

⚫ HOW CAN A FIR BE FILED ?
To file a FIR, one has to visit to the nearest pollice station.
Then the person has to inform the police officer on duty his complaint.
FIR should be signed by the person making the complaint.
The Fir should be registered by the police officer in the record book.

⚫ WHAT IS FIR ?
FIR means First Information Report. It means the information recorded by the police officer on duty either by the aggrieved person or any other person to the commission of the alleged offence. It is called as first information report because it is the information which reaches the police first in point of time .In other words it is a complaint lodged by the victim itself or by any other person on behalf of the victim. Once the FIR is registered, on it’s basis the police starts the investigation. One of the most important ascect regarding filing of FIR is that it can only be filed in case of the cognizable offences and not in the case non-congnizable offences.
