The project "Empowering University Youth to Improve the Human Rights of Young People from Vulnerable Groups", whose short name is "Rights Project", aims to empower university students in the context of discrimination and human rights, within the scope of the European Union's European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (DIHAA) program.
The project, which is carried out by the Youth Services Center Association (GSM), Mardin Joint Women's Cooperation Association (MOKİD) and Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation (um:ag), will continue for 36 months, on the basis of equality and zero discrimination through online and face-to-face events. It aims to establish bonds between university students of all age groups.
The Council of Europe sees empowering young people on human rights as a measure against the rise of violence, racism, extremism, xenophobia, discrimination and intolerance. The Rights Project, created in this context, works with young people to develop and spread the human rights culture in society and creates democratic spaces for them to make their voices heard. The Rights Project, whose face-to-face events will be held in Ankara, Diyarbakır, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Mardin and Mersin, has two separate target groups: non-governmental organizations working with young people and university students aged 18-25.
