अब्दुल रशीद सलीम सलमान खान (उर्दू: سلمان خان उच्चारण : səlmɑːn xɑːn, जन्म : २७ दिसम्बर १९६५) एक भारतीय फ़िल्म अभिनेता हैं, जो बॉलीवुड की फिल्मों में दिखाई देते हैं। इन्होंने सन १९८८ में अभिनय की दुनिया में अपनी पहली फिल्म बीवी हो तो ऐसी से शुरूआत की। सलमान को अपनी पहली बड़ी व्यावसायिक सफलता १९८९ में रिलीज़ हुई मैंने प्यार किया से मिली, जिसके लिए इन्हें फिल्मफ़ेयर सर्वश्रेष्ठ नवीन पुरूष अभिनेता पुरस्कार भी दिया गया। वे बॉलीवुड की कुछ सफल फिल्मों में स्टार कलाकार की भूमिका करते रहे, जैसे साजन (१९९१), हम आपके हैं कौन (१९९४) व बीवी नं. १ (१९९९) और ये ऐसी फिल्में थीं जिन्होंने उनके करियर में पाँच अलग सालों में सबसे अधिक कमाई की।

१९९० में खान की केवल एक फ़िल्म रिलीज़ की गई जिसका नाम था बागी: अ रिबेल फॉर लव। इसमें दक्षिण भारत की अभिनेत्री नग़मा मुख्य भूमिका में थी। यह फिल्म बॉक्स ऑफिस पर सफल रही थी और[9]इसके बाद वर्ष १९९१ इनके लिए सफल वर्ष साबित हुआ जब इन्होंने लगातार तीन सफल हिट फिल्मों में मुख्य भूमिका निभाई जिनमे ' शामिल है।[10]प्रारंभ में ही बॉक्स ऑफिस पर इन फिल्मों की जबरदस्त सफलता के बावजूद १९९२-१९९३ में रिलीज हुई इनकी तमाम फिल्में असफल रही।[10]
