The digitization of the Annual Canvas is a key step to have up-to-date data for the health map of the DRC. To date, the information necessary for a good health map, such as the availability of service, or access to water and electricity is often missing. In 2020, the entire Annual Canvas was digitized in the DHIS2 tracker program, by the Ministry of Health with the support of USAID.
The Canevas Annuel application complements data collection carried out in paper format. It allows the direct collection of geographical coordinates (geolocation) and the taking of a photo of each health facility. Sending them directly to a server when the device is connected to the Internet makes it possible to avoid input errors and to take them into account quickly.
The Canevas Annuel app works offline and can also be used to collect points of interest and review health area boundaries. The data collected is centralized within the National Health Information System (SNIS).
