The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita (श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता) often referred to as the Gita, is a 700 (originally 745) - verse Sanatan Dharma scripture that is part of the Mahabharata (chapters 23–40 of Bhishma Parva).

It is considered to be one of the holy scriptures for Hinduism (Sanatan Dharma).

The Bhagwat Gita is set in a narrative framework of a dialogue between Pandava prince Arjuna and his guide and charioteer Sri Krishna (God). At the start of the Dharma Yuddha (righteous war) between Pandavas and Kauravas, Arjuna is filled with moral dilemma and despair about the violence and death the war will cause in the battle against his own kin. Arjuna thinks what he should take and should give up, the great Bhagavad-gtā is composed of the answers and discourses of knowledge spoken by Lord Sri Krishna.
