আচার্য চাণক্য (খ্ৰীষ্টপূৰ্ব ৩৭০-২৮৩) প্ৰাচীন ভাৰতৰ এজন আদৰ্শ গুৰু (শিক্ষক), দাৰ্শনিক আৰু ৰাজ-উপদেষ্টা আছিল। তেওঁক কৌটিল্য অথবা বিষ্ণুগুপ্ত নামেৰেও অভিহিত কৰা হয়। তেওঁ প্ৰাচীন ভাৰতৰ ৰাষ্ট্ৰবিজ্ঞানৰ গুৰুত্বপূৰ্ণ গ্ৰন্থ অৰ্থশাস্ত্ৰ ৰচনা কৰিছিল । প্ৰচণ্ড শক্তিশালী নন্দ বংশৰ শাসন উৎখাত কৰি সম্ৰাট অশোকৰ পিতামহ চন্দ্ৰ গুপ্ত মৌৰ্যক ভাৰতৰ শাসন ক্ষমতাত অধিষ্ঠিত কৰাৰ ক্ষেত্ৰত তেওঁৰেই মূল অৱদান আছিল।

Chanakya was an ancient Indian teacher, philosopher, economist, jurist and royal advisor. He is traditionally identified as Kauṭilya or Vishnugupta, who authored the ancient Indian political treatise, the Arthashastra. He destroyed the Nanda dynasty and made Chandragupta Maurya, the grandfather of King Ashoka as the king.
