The University of Lagos Bookshop started operations in 1966 under the aegis of the University. In 2012, the University authorities registered the University of Lagos Press and Bookshop Limited as a private limited company to be managed by seasoned professionals from the private sector. The University of Lagos Bookshop is a division of the University of Lagos Press and Bookshop Limited. The philosophy behind the establishment of the bookshop was to serve as a reference source for books and all other learning materials. The Bookshop is opened for business Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the convenience of medical students, a branch of the Bookshop is located at the campus of the College of Medicine, ldi-Araba, Lagos.
