Green Beans (Vigna radiata) or more popularly known as green beans are a type of leguminous plant (Fabaceae) which is widely known to grow in the tropics. Green beans are rich in benefits for the body, namely they contain a high source of vegetable protein, contain minerals including calcium and phosphorus which can strengthen bones, are low in fat so that food or drinks made from green kajang are not easily smelly. Therefore, green beans rank as the third most important legume crop after soybeans and peanuts.

Green bean cultivation is widely practiced in various regions throughout Indonesia considering the high number of demands from the consumer market. Green beans can grow in soil with an optimal pH of 6.7, good aeration and drainage, and loamy clay texture. Loamy clay soil usually contains a lot of organic matter which makes the soil fertile. When talking about a suitable climate, green beans can grow in areas with temperatures of 25 – 27 ° C and humidity around 50 – 89%.
