Chased from the castle of Thunder-ten-tronckh for having placed a kiss on the lips of his beautiful Cunégonde, Candide travels the world and discovers its worst aspects in the company of characters who share, with him, their philosophy of life.
Arrived in the land of Eldorado after crossing the Indies, Candide and his new friend Cocambo realize that gold, precious stones and abundance are not enough for them – the first because he cannot forget Cunégonde, the second because he remembers that it is good to show off to his family after having traveled so much.
