The new augmented reality (AR) technology is having some initial issues at the moment, as it's still being experimented with by Google. Of course, the mobile device needs to be under the Android OS.

Augmented reality superimposes digital content and information over the physical world - as if they were really there with you, in your own space.

Your device must be a smartphone or tablet running Android 7.0 or higher with the Google Play Store preinstalled. The trick also works with Apple devices running iOS OS, needing to be iPhone / iPad with iOS 11.0 or higher.

It's important to check that your phone or tablet settings allow your browser to access your camera and also send Google push notifications.

Now you can use AR to place 3D digital objects in your own space directly from Search or from websites in Chrome. Learn about everything from NASA's Curiosity Rover to human anatomy and animals like hedgehogs, penguins and sharks, with a greater sense of context and scale.
