-01- ACT NO 079 OF 20 August 2001 CONCERNING PENAL CODE,
The National Assembly deliberated and adopted at its meeting of 29 June 2001
The President of the Republic promulgates the law which reads as follows

PRELIMINARY PROVISIONS

ARTICLE 1:

The penalties for justice in Mali are divided into criminal penalties,
penalties applied to offenses and penalties for petty offenses.

ARTICLE 2:

The offense under this Code imposes a criminal penalty is a crime.
The offense that this Code punishes simple police ticketed.
All other offenses are misdemeanors unless the law provides otherwise.

ARTICLE 3:

Any attempt to crime, manifested by a commencement of execution and suspended or
having failed in its effect by circumstances beyond the will of its author, is
considered as the crime itself.
offense attempts are not considered crimes in the cases determined by
special provision of the law.
