About Gus Muwafiq's Islamic Lecture part 1

K.H. Ahmad Muwafiq or better known as Kyai Muwafiq or Gus Muwafiq is one of the scholars of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). Gus Muwafiq is known as one of the present-day NU orators because of the depth of his knowledge and oration skills. In addition to scholars who understand religious knowledge, Gus Muwafiq also studied various other sciences, one of which was history and civilization which was conveyed in straightforward and easily accepted language.

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) is the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. This organization was founded on January 31, 1926 and is engaged in the religious, educational, social and economic sectors. NU adheres to Ahlussunah waljama'ah, which is a mindset that takes a middle path between extreme aqli (rationalists) and extreme naqli (scripturalists). Therefore, the source of Islamic law for NU is not only the Koran, the Sunnah, but also the use of reason and empirical reality.
