Appropriate methods for calculating the dosage is not well established in obese patients. In general, obese patients have a higher volume of distribution of lipophilic drugs, increased removal of hydrophilic drug and decrease in lean body mass and the water of the tissues. These changes predispose these patients to subtherapeutic or toxic responses to various drugs.
This application reports the adjusted weight (PD) to be used to calculate the doses of different drugs (antiarrhythmics, sedatives, antibiotics, muscle relaxants, heparins ...), energy requirements, and different procedures.
