Akrotiri and Dhekelia, formally the Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia (SBA), is a British Overseas Territory on the island of Cyprus. The areas, which incorporate British military bases and establishments, as well as other land, were held by the British under the 1960 settlement of independence, endorsed by the United Kingdom, Greece, Turkey and agents from the Greek and Turkish Cypriot people group, which conceded independence to the (then, at that point) Crown colony of Cyprus.
