This app is a visualization tool for different orientations of crystals. Crystal unit cells can be rotated as per ZXZ Euler angle convention and visualized in 3-D view as well as in a pole figure in real time.
It has option to select a unit cell from the four most common crystal unit cells: cubic, tetragonal, hexagonal and monoclinic with freedom to choose lattice parameter ratios and angles.
Euler angles can be directly entered to visualize a particular ideal texture component or can be selected from a list of most common texture components. It also has provision to visualize the effect of continuous rotation of crystal about an X-axis or Z-axis through variation in phi1 and phi values
Thomson tetrahedron, an important tool to analyse slip systems can be superimposed on the 3-D view. A number of crystal planes can also be visualized in the 3-D crystal view. Users can choose different color and transparency level for each plane.
Each orientation is also shown in a pole figure. Option is provided to select the {hkl} plane of the pole figure. The viewing angle of the crystal can be varied smoothly by touch or an x,y or z direction view can be projected.
This app is a very useful app for undergraduate, postgraduate and scientists working in areas related to materials, texture, deformation and crystal plasticity.
We encourage constructive suggestions and feedback from users to improve this app.
