About the CTBT and the SnT2025 Conference

The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) bans all nuclear test explosions everywhere and for all time. Its powerful verification regime is nearly complete, with over 90% of the planned 337 International Monitoring System (IMS) facilities already operational. These facilities make sure that any nuclear explosion anywhere in the world will not go undetected.

The IMS also provides valuable data for disaster mitigation. This includes monitoring earthquakes, issuing tsunami warnings, and tracking radioactive releases from nuclear accidents.
