Federica Carbonin was born in Rome on 1 June 1990.
Following an astrocytoma (a benign tumor that affects her cerebellum, damaging her optic nerve), at the age of five she loses much of her sight, becoming severely visually impaired. A year and a half later, in January '97, a relapse forced her to go to Virginia (USA) to undergo gamma knife therapy. Life-saving therapy not practiced in Italy at the time.
the therapy works and Federica gets used to her new existence as a severely visually impaired person, with only one small residual vision: one twentieth in the center of her left eye.
She hasn't stopped since: she attends primary and middle school like all the other children of her age; he enrolled at the Lucio Lombardo Radice linguistic high school where he obtained his high school diploma in July 2009 and in September of the same year he enrolled in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at Tor Vergata University where he attended the degree course in modern literature.
He graduated in December 2012 with a thesis on Diego Zandel, a contemporary writer son of Julian-Dalmatian refugees, receiving a mark of 110 with honors, the same he also received on 19 February 2015 when he obtained a master's degree in Journalism and Editorial Systems with a thesis entitled "FREEDOM HALVED, Between intimidation of journalists and obscured news, Ossigeno's battle for the right to report".
From December 2015 to August 2020 he worked at the Transport Regulatory Authority.
She is an active member of the Rome section of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired where she is part of three committees and collaborates with another important organization in the area that deals with disabilities, the Disability Pride Network.
On April 27, 2022, her first literary work "Volare con la fantasia" was published, a collection of fantasy stories that have diversity as their common thread, a theme very dear to the author who considers it an asset.
