The Manufacturer Plugin app is part of a larger Diebold Nixdorf (DN) software suite for Android, which was created in 2014 and recently (2024) added to the Google Play Store.
The DN software suite for Android consists of multiple apps, such as:
• Hub, which is used to manage and monitor devices staged by Diebold Nixdorf engineers.
• Manufacturer Plugin, which implements manufacturer specific logic, such that Device Framework can remain manufacturer-agnostic.
• Scheduler, which is used to trigger events in the Device Framework app at precise moments. Triggers can be based on time, battery/power events, Wi-Fi events, screen on/off events, etc.
• Launcher, which is a custom launcher used to restrict what actions users can perform on a managed device.
• Hardware Platform, which is a browser that loads a configurable URL and exposes some Android or manufacturer-specific features to the website via a JavaScript interface.
Please note: These DN apps are exclusively meant to be used by Diebold Nixdorf engineers on devices managed by Diebold Nixdorf. Therefore, all functionality is disabled by default and the app needs to be configured before the app becomes active. This was done to ensure the DN apps do not negatively impact a device when a regular Android user accidentally installs one of our apps on a personal device.
