The Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics is a state-owned museum, with the category of National Museum, attached to the Ministry of Defense under the organizational dependency of the Historical and Cultural Service of the Air Force (SHYCEA), whose purpose is the acquisition and conservation of the assets that constitute the Historical Heritage of Spanish Aeronautics.

Currently, it occupies an area of ​​66,938 m², divided into an outdoor exhibition area and seven hangars that house more than 177 aircraft and structural components, as well as uniforms, decorations, engines, models and other pieces related to aviation. Among the funds stand out unique pieces such as the Vilanova-Acedo, the oldest airplane preserved in Spain; the “Jesus del Gran Poder” with which captains Jiménez and Iglesias crossed the South Atlantic in 1929; the German Heinkel He 111 E-1 bomber; and a C-19 autogyro, designed by Juan de la Cierva, which first flew in 1932.

Hangar 6 is not currently accessible due to renovation.
