Is it hard for you to understand American movies without subtitles?
This app can help you!
You probably know this problem:
You already know a lot of English words. You can even understand English books and websites well.
Then you try to watch an American movie. Suddenly you don't understand much, the people talk very quickly. But if you turn on the subtitles, you can see that you actually know almost all the words.
What is the reason for that?
The problem is your weak listening comprehension. You have to train it extra. Simply listening to a lot of English doesn't work well (you've been listening to American songs all your life, right?) Watching movies with subtitles doesn't work well, either. You don't challenge your listening comprehension. You just read the subtitles and your brain doesn't need to actively understand what the people say.
What is our solution?
In our app you can really challenge your listening comprehension. Here, you must FIRST listen to a sentence. At the beginning you can't see the text. You can listen to the sentence several times and try to understand it as well as you can. Only AFTER you can open the text. This order is important: first listen, then read. This forces the brain to understand English better and better by only hearing the voices.
What else can you do in the app?
- learn with audio stories, always with a context
- you have to type in some words only by hearing them (more listening training)
- instant translations for all words (to German or to Spanish)
- vocabulary training for any words you want
- explanations of grammar in some sentences
- testing and training your own pronunciation
You can install the trial version for free. If you like it, you can upgrade to the full version from within the app.
