StormApp is a free application that aims to collect data on the effects and impacts of storm surge / high water events on the coasts of the Northern Adriatic (Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia) and is aimed at technicians and researchers.
Users are invited to visit the coasts, especially the beaches, after a storm surge or high water event, to take photographs of the consequences of the event and upload them to the app. In this way, users provide a valuable contribution to the work of researchers and technicians, in identifying which events have actually been harmful. It will thus be possible to define an alert procedure for the population that lives and/or works on the coasts, in the case of forecasts of storm surge / high water events.
This app was developed within a technical / scientific collaboration agreement between the University of Trieste (Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Geosciences) and the Tide Forecasting and Reporting Center of the Smart Control Room Sector and Tide Forecasting Center, General Directorate of the Municipality of Venice.
