The Department of National ID and Civil Registration, established on 2075/06/28 B.S. (October 14, 2018 A.D.), has been entrusted with three major responsibilities: the first legal right of “Civil Event Registration”, the distribution of the National ID Card that establishes individuals’ digital identity and serves multiple purposes, and the management of the highly popular government program of cash transfer under social security.
These three programs, implemented for the identification and welfare of citizens, are interconnected in one way or another and are currently technology-based. For this reason, though they were introduced and operated separately at different times, they were eventually integrated into a single entity. Today, they are being operated as a technology-driven department with a broad scope.
