The Congregation of the Order of the Imitation of Christ (OIC), which is known as Bethany Ashram, was founded by the late Archbishop Mar Ivanios OIC in the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church on August 15, 1919 at a place called Perunad in Kerala. Bethany Ashram was the first monastic community in the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church at that time with the unique vision and life style.
