It is important to note that all words in Spanish have an accent. The accent is the greater intensity of the voice to highlight one syllable with respect to the others. Some words have a tilde identifying the spelling accent. All words have an accent but not all have an accent. There are rules to determine on which syllable the orthographic accent (tilde) goes.

The four types of words that determine stress are:

📘 Esdrújulas
📙 Envelopes

The acute serious words and esdrujulas are classified according to the stressed syllable in:

Agudas: They are those words in which the voice is loaded in the last syllable. These words have a tilde (graphic accent) when they end in n, s or a vowel.
Graves: Are those words in which the voice is loaded in the penultimate syllable.
Esdrújulas: are those words that have the accent on the antepenultimate syllable and all of them are marked with the tilde.
Sobreesdrújulas: they are those that carry the accent on the previous syllable of the penultimate (fourth and fifth) and all of them are marked with the tilde.
