UNIDO has been providing technical assistance to enterprises and industry support institutions to enhance and improve their performance, modernize their production methods and ensure their compliance with national, regional and international quality standards, and setting them on a path to increased growth, employment and prosperity. Nevertheless, today this technical assistance faces obstructions in terms of implementation due to measure set in place. enterprises have been hit the hardest resulting in significant loss of employment and even complete halt of activities.
In order to mitigate and contribute to reversing the negative impact of the pandemic, UNIDO has developed a new approach to ensure that the enterprises receive technical assistance aimed at supporting their survival and preparing them for the post-pandemic scenarios that are governed by new realities in terms of international trade, value chains and priority sectors. Moreover, the new approach focuses on addressing the technological gaps and the emerging needs on the level of productivity, performance and connectivity in the light of 4IR.
