FC Mecklenburg Schwerin is a football club. His primary goal is to promote amateur football in the Schwerin region and to establish performance-oriented football by pooling forces.
History:
1900 - Wacker Schwerin and VfL Schwerin start playing.
1903 - Founding of Schwerin FC 03.
1938 - Fusion of the clubs to form the SSV (Schweriner Sportverein) which was dissolved in 1945 by the occupying power from Soviet Russia.
1945 - Several civil associations were founded (Vorwarts, BSG unit, SG Schwerin). Vorwarts Schwerin -had nothing to do with the army- took part in the first DDR-Oberliga and retired with 14th place as the last from this season in the DDR-Liga Staffel Nord/Staffel1.
1948 - SV German People's Police started playing.
1951 - Forwards Schwerin becomes the BSG unit Schwerin.
1953 - Founding of the SG Dynamo Schwerin. Since the mid-1960s they had a regular place in the 2nd division of the GDR, took part in 2 promotion rounds to the GDR Oberliga and promoted talent, for use at BFC Dynamo.
1956 - Creation of a football section at SC Traktor Schwerin, which joins the team of the BSG unit Schwerin.
1963 - Dissolution of the football section at SC Traktor and transfer of the kickers to BSG Motor Schwerin.
1970 - Formation of a company sports association, which later became the ISG (Industrial Sports Association) Schwerin.
1990 - Conversion of SG Dynamo Schwerin into PSV Schwerin. Participation in the GDR Cup final and the European Cup of Cup Winners.
1991 - Merger of PSV Schwerin with SV Grün Weiss Schwerin to form 1.FSV Schwerin. Merger of ISG Schwerin with BSG Motor Schwerin to form VfL Schwerin. The football department of Schweriner SC emerged from several clubs.
1993 - VfL Schwerin is incorporated into Schweriner SC.
1996 - Foundation of FC Eintracht Schwerin by board members of 1. FSV Schwerin and Schweriner SC.
1997 - Revitalization of the football department of Schwerin SC especially for youth work.
1998 & 1999 - FC Eintracht Schwerin takes 4th place in the Oberliga.
2009 - The club with the pioneering name FC Mecklenburg Schwerin is founded from the three clubs with the most members - FC Eintracht Schwerin, SG Dynamo Schwerin and Schweriner SC - together with football-loving representatives from politics and administration - but originally as a support club.
2013 - Merger of the association FCM Schwerin and FC Eintracht Schwerin to FC Mecklenburg Schwerin starting in the Verbandsliga MV.
