From the 1880s, Eduard Spelterini took his balloon to Switzerland and was the first to photograph it from the air. He took technically innovative and aesthetically captivating aerial photographs from the balloon. Spelterini's trips were an adventure. His pictures opened up new perspectives.

The exhibition "von oben" at the National Library in Bern takes Spelterini's photographs as a starting point for telling a story about aerial photography in Switzerland. It leads to the drone via photography from the plane and the satellite.
