About the REMIT Study App
Welcome to the official app of the REMIT study ("Remote Monitoring and Intervention for Optimized Care of Post- and Long-COVID Syndrome").
REMIT is a medical research project conducted by a consortium of German university hospitals and research institutions (including Jena University Hospital, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the Central Institute of Mental Health, and the University of Münster). Our goal is to better understand the symptoms and progression of long-COVID in order to optimize future treatment methods.
What does this app do?
This app is used to collect important health data within the framework of the REMIT study. With your explicit consent, the app passively and securely collects physiological data from your smartphone and connected wearables (e.g., fitness trackers or smartwatches) via Android Health Connect.
Why is this data needed?
Long-term COVID-19 is a complex illness that manifests differently in each individual. Symptoms such as severe fatigue, sleep disturbances, and heart rate fluctuations (dysautonomia) are common.
To objectively capture these symptoms, the app requests the following data via Health Connect:
Sleep (SleepSession): To analyze sleep patterns and quality.
Heart (HeartRate, RestingHeartRate, HeartRateVariabilityRmssd): To record heart rate and autonomic nervous system function.
Respiration (RespiratoryRate, OxygenSaturation): To measure respiratory rate and blood oxygen saturation.
Temperature (BodyTemperature): To monitor fluctuations in body temperature.
Your benefits as a participant:
By participating and providing this data, you will make an invaluable contribution to long-term COVID-19 research. They help scientists decipher the mechanisms behind the disease and improve care for future patients.
Data Protection and Security
Protecting your data is our highest priority.
The app is exclusively for registered study participants.
All data is pseudonymized and treated with strict confidentiality.
Data processing is carried out in accordance with the strict requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and German data protection law.
You retain full control over your data sharing settings in Health Connect at all times.
