The Forest and Wildlife Office of the Canton of Zug offers a mobile application for recording fishing events and catches.

The app allows fishermen to record their catches online. Filling out the catch statistics in paper form is no longer necessary. It also offers an immediate evaluation of personal fishing events.

With the app, more detailed information on fishing activities can be recorded than the statistics in paper form:

- Date and duration of the activity
- Caught fish species
- Size of the fish
- Reason for the release of fish
- Empty catches

Empty catches as well as the date and duration of the activity are automatically recorded using a so-called start/stop function. This function will make it possible to calculate the CPUE (Catch per Unit Effort) in more detail and therefore more meaningfully in the future. As further options, the fishermen can specify the size of the fish and the bait used. The personal fishing activities are shown in individual catch statistics (e.g. number of fish, fished waters or success rate, etc.).
