According to Friar Alberto Beckhäuser, OFM, "The Eucharistic Prayer launches the celebrant assembly into the heart of the Paschal Mystery of Christ celebrated in the Mass. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal says: “Now begins the Eucharistic Prayer, the center and apex of all celebration, prayer of thanksgiving and sanctification. The priest invites the people to lift their hearts to the Lord in prayer and thanksgiving and associates it with the prayer he directs to God the Father, through Christ, in the Holy Spirit, in the name of all the community. The meaning of this prayer is that the entire assembly unites with Christ in proclaiming the wonders of God and in the oblation of sacrifice.
