EBT Snap Eligibility Benefits to low-income individuals and families through an electronic benefit transfer card. Benefits are automatically loaded onto an Electronic Benefits Transfer, or EBT, card. This card can be used as a debit card to purchase eligible food at authorized retail stores. The amount received from the government depends on each family's income.

EBT recipients receive money to spend at supermarkets and grocery stores. EBT benefits can be used for food products such as bread, cereal, fruits and vegetables. They do not cover alcohol or pet food.
