This app is about Jewish Poland. And about photography. We greatly value the importance of historical photographs in teaching about the past, but also appreciate contemporary photography projects as a way of illustrating the current changes in the Polish-Jewish landscape.

This app presents photographs from Jewish Poland made by the most important photographers who worked here and directed their lenses at Polish-Jewish matters. These range from early photographic images of Polish Jews, through the turmoil of the 20th century, to more recent projects documenting the Jewish presence in Poland, the continuity of Jewish tradition, and the rebirth of the Polish-Jewish community. We will also occasionally publish other visual materials such as a poster for a play or the front page of a newspaper…
