Welcome to Garmin Instinct 2 Guide app!
The Garmin Instinct 2, a new robust solar-powered smartwatch from Garmin, claims an endless battery life. Simply remain outside in the sunshine.
With its monochrome screen, physical buttons, and solid frame, the Garmin looks more like a tough digital watch like Casio's storied G-Shock than an Apple or Samsung smartwatch.
Garmin Instinct 2 starts at £299.99 ($349.99/A$549) and is available in a variety of models, including one for professional truck drivers and one for surfing. However, the solar charging variants, which cost £389.99, make the claim that they will never require an electrical outlet.
Garmin's smartwatch technology, which offers industry-leading sport, health, and location-tracking, is hidden beneath the tough casing. It can connect to smartphones using the Connect app on an Android or iPhone to sync data, receive notifications, and alerts.
The Garmin Instinct 2 shares many similarities with other Garmin sport watches, but stands out for promising a long battery life even in the absence of sunlight.
This is 10 days longer than the already amazing Fenix 7 and around 14 times longer than an Apple Watch. The Garmin Instinct 2 regular 45mm model without solar will last up to 28 days when used as a general smartwatch.
As long as you spend at least three hours in direct sunshine, the solar version, which charges via a transparent "power glass" covering the screen and panels around the edge of the display, claims to keep the battery topped up for virtually endless battery life (50,000 lux of light).
