Girishchandra Sen (Born: 1834 - Died: 1910). He is better known as Bhai Girishchandra Sen. His main identity is as the first Bengali translator of Quran, the holy book of Islam. At that time, the common people had an idea about the scriptures that the sanctity of the scriptures would be undermined if translated from the original language. Such was the idea about the Holy Quran. For this reason, many Muslim thinkers did not dare to translate it into Bengali. Girishchandra Sen was the first to overcome this fear despite being of a different religion. Not only the translation of Quran Sharif, he translated many books on Islamic religion. He also did a lot of research on Islam.

Many scholars including the then Islamic scholar Maulana Akram Khan highly praised his translation. For this reason, Muslims give him the title of "brother".
