⚫ The advocates, litigants and general public can access latest status of the court cases on respective sites of the court concerned. The cases can be searched using Case Type, Case Number and Case Year. It can also be searched using FIR details, Filing Details, Advocate Name or Party Details etc.

✓ Select the Police Station from the select box.
✓ In the FIR Number box,
✓ enter the FIR Number of the case.
✓ In the Year box, enter the FIR Year.
✓ Click on either the Pending or Disposed option button, according to the status of the Case.
⚫ Can I file a case without a lawyer in India?
One can file civil case directly without the help of lawyer/advocate. There is nothing binding that one has to file civil case through an advocate only. The party can always appear in person in court for defending his case.

⚫ What is original suit case?
Orignal suit is suit filed at court of first instance. For eg, If suit is filed in District court then the suit is orignal suit in District court. Though the same case can reach a higher court in appeal, the orignal suit would still be considered to be filed in District court (court of first instance.)
⚫ Can we reopen disposed case?
A case may be reopened if it is dismissed without prejudice for a procedural matter such as failing to provide discovery, failing to file appropriate pleadings or even failing to appear for trial, a motion to reopen or restore the case to the active calendar may be made.
⚫ How do I find my case number?
Your case number is usually found on top of your case file. You can also find your case number by going to the website of the court your case is listed at and It is mentioned next to your case in the cause list of the day of listing.
⚫ What is meant by Case is Pending?
When the trial proceedings of a case are pending in the court of law and the case is in a position where a number of hearings / proceeding dates will be required to reach a point where a judgement can be given and the case can be disposed, it is said to be a Pending Case.
⚫ What is a Case Item Number?
When a case is listed for a date, it is available in the cause list of the said date. The cases in the cause list are put in a chronology and the placement of each case is against a number is the Item Number of the case.
⚫ A cause list is a chronological list of cases that will be taken up by a court on a particular day. Every day a court publishes the list of cases that will be presented before a judge the next day or the next working day of the court. This list gives details of the Case Name, Parties, Case Number, Listing for, Name of Advocates, Courtroom No. & the Judge before whom the case will be presented.

✓ Regular matters
✓ Based on the matter type and the stage
✓ the case is listed in either of the lists.
⚫ The Judges of the High Court of Punjab became Judges of the common High Court with all the powers and jurisdiction of the High Court of Punjab. However, the principal seat of the High Court remained at Chandigarh. The High Court of Punjab and Haryana is working since November 1, 1966 in its present form.
