The Adult Emergency Unit of the Barros Luco Hospital is a highly complex unit, which is located in the southern sector of Santiago and belongs to the South Metropolitan Health Service, being its reference hospital given its high complexity, together with its resolutive power in various pathologies and the high degree of specialization of its professionals. Regarding the Emergency Unit, it has the specialties of Emergency Medicine, Emergency Surgery, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Traumatology and Dental, plus Neurology support on duty 24/7 365 days. All these specialties are accompanied during the daytime by a group of PAO Emergency Medicine doctors from different universities plus doctors released on duty with great experience and from different specialties that not only support the adult Emergency Unit given the great skill and knowledge that possess. In addition to the above, the Emergency Unit is a Teaching Assistance unit for all the aforementioned specialties and that can currently be exploited even more for the benefit of new generations and patients of the public health system.

With regard to the non-medical team, the Adult Emergency Unit is also made up of a group of high-level clinical nurses plus a team of highly experienced TENS and emergency assistants, who together with the support and administrative personnel, make up a true work team focused on emergency issues that concern the population that visits us.

For all the above, it is possible to create and update a quick access clinical guide, which together with the important and vital support of the HBLT ICT Department, this material is updated in version 2.0 for the disposal of all emergency teams that they need it, but especially to our HBLT Adult Emergency Unit.

As a novelty, in this version 2.0 we have some calculators for doctors and nurses, as well as a management guide for the COVID-19 pact that was created during 2020 due to the pandemic that affected worldwide, including our Emergency, with the need for a temporary complexity of our unit with up to 22 critical beds available simultaneously plus other new updated content.
